Bernina 830 Record – One of the Best Machines

The latest machine in for servicing and maintenance is the Bernina 830 Record – arguably one of the best sewing machine ever built. For the past few weeks, I have received a large number of the same model coming in for some tender loving care – an unusal event to have so many of the same model in at the same time.
First the multiple Singer Featherweight 221K 222K and now the Bernina 830.
One of the machines failed due to an after market part. I can’t stress enough the importance of using genuine parts.

Singer Featherweight 221K 222K
A rare occurrence to have that many Singer Featherweights at a given time.
Its a pleasure to work on these beautiful machines.
Husqvarna Viking 2000 Stitch Selector seized. No longer able to select stitches.
This problem occurs when machine has been sitting for a long time, stitch selector has not been turned for a while, broken gear or dried grease due to lack of service. The proper way to resolve this problem is to remove the whole selector assembly. Remove and clean all gears and linkages. Assemble gears, linkages, adjust and grease.

This machine was on my bench this morning. I was told the last service was done 3 years ago.

Oil soaked Bernina motor brush
This carbon brush was removed from a Bernina 530 motor during servicing. Continue use of machine with oil soaked carbon brushes will result in smoke coming from motor or a fire.
