This problem occurs when machine has been sitting for a long time, stitch selector has not been turned for a while, broken gear or dried grease due to lack of service. The proper way to resolve this problem is to remove the whole selector assembly. Remove and clean all gears and linkages. Assemble gears, linkages, adjust and grease.
